WHAT IS THE EVV START DATE IN NEBRASKA?
The 21st Century Cures Act amended the Social Security Act to mandate state Medicaid agency implementation of Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) use for personal care services requiring an in-home visit by providers starting on January 1, 2019. The date changed via federal adjustment to January 1, 2020, additionally providing an option for states to apply for a ‘Good Faith Exemption’ request to implement EVV for personal care services after January 1, 2020 but before January 1, 2021. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) applied for a Good Faith Exemption and was officially approved by CMS to implement prior to January 1, 2021. Home health care services will be required to utilize EVV beginning January 1, 2023
NEBRASKA EVV SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS?
AN APPROVED EVV SYSTEM IS REQUIRED FOR PERSONAL CARE SERVICES AND HOME HEALTH CARE SERVICES UNDER MEDICAID
In December of 2020 the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) selected 4Tellus, LLC (Tellus) to launch electronic visit verification (EVV) in Nebraska, however, Nebraska is an open model state, meaning agencies are free to select a compliant Nebraska EVV system of their preference. Per the specifications of the 21st Century Cures Act, a selected Nebraska EVV system must minimally electronically verify the following information:

Alora offers Nebraska agencies live-monitoring of home visits, notifying you of any delayed visits or no-shows. Your agency will enjoy a real-time view of what is happening with all visits conducted in the field, as they are happening. Alora’s integrated EVV solution keeps your agency compliant while avoiding the risks of losing revenue which is often associated with missed visits. With Alora, you can stay on top of all visit activities in the field.
Caregivers can complete their visits on their smartphones or tablets…and as an administrator, you can enjoy the power of managing your entire agency workflow from the convenience of the mobile device in your pocket! Alora has been consistently rated by caregivers and office staff as extraordinarily easy to use. Inspire quick staff adoption into your agency through Alora’s easy learning curve.
EVV data captured by Alora automatically flows into Alora Home Health Software for Nebraska. Once a caregiver exits the patient’s home, the visit automatically updates within the Alora system, inclusive of the visit’s date with start and end time. The visit is then marked as complete, resulting in automation of readiness for billing and payroll. Visits that do not occur as planned are immediately flagged within Alora for manual review.
Even without a mandated EVV solution, the manual data entry of visit information from the timesheet into your system can be very slow and labor-intensive. It costs money, not to mention the potential for human errors.
Alora Home Health Software for Nebraska makes your agency workflow easy and efficient. The benefits of Alora’s built-in EVV solution within your agency is that Alora automatically updates the system with visit information from the moment your caregiver arrives at a patient’s home. The moment the caregiver leaves the patient’s home, your visit information is complete and is ready for billing and payroll.
Compare this scenario with managing EVV with a standalone software tool that is not part of your home care software. Without two-way data flow, your caregiver and office staff will be spending a lot of time doing double entries.
