Utah EVVHome Health Software with UTAH EVV Compatibility

Alora was among the first alternate EVV vendors to be certified in a variety of states, and the system is compliant with the requirements set forth by the Utah department of Health Medicaid in accordance with the 21st Century Cures Act.

Alora’s built in solution captures all elements outlined for compliant data transmission during visits and offers agencies even more flexibility through an integrated system that performs more than just the minimums. Alora’s Home Health Software for Utah with integrated EVV offers agencies:

Alora offers live-monitoring of home visits, alerting your agency for no-shows or delayed visits. This integrated automation capability provides your agency’s administrators a real-time view of what is happening with all home visits minute by minute.  In short, your agency stays compliant while avoiding the possibility of lost revenue associated with missed visits. Alora keeps your agency in full control of what occurs with scheduled home visits.

The Utah department of Health Medicaid announced that as of January 1, 2021 for Personal Care services, and January 1, 2023 for Home Health service providers, they will begin denying claims that do not match with EVV data. Keep your agency free from the risk for claim denials with a robust system that integrates EVV into claims processing. Alora gives you maximum workflow and peace of mind.

See how Alora can help your agency

Because EVV is integrated with Alora Home Health Software, all EVV data captured automatically flows into the Alora system. As soon as your caregiver leaves a patient’s home, the visit scheduled in the Alora system is updated with the start and end time and the visit is marked as completed. Instantly, the visit is now ready for billing and payroll. Any visits that did not occur as planned, are flagged for manual review by an administrator.

The level of automation Alora empowers your agency processes with can elevate workflow to much greater efficiency. In comparison, an agency that does not have Alora must commit several manual hours daily to copy EVV data from an external system’s portal into their homecare software. This is the only way to ensure accurately billing and payroll. With such a slow, labor-intensive process, agencies spend more money and waste more time, while opening their business up to possible errors that will put Medicaid reimbursement at risk.

Alora’s EVV automation mitigates these risks while providing a centralized solution that is designed for caregiver ease of use and administrative efficiency.

Per Section 12006(a) of the 21st Century Cures Act, it is mandated that all states implement Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for all Medicaid Personal Care Services and Home Health Services that require an in-home visit by a provider. This mandate applies also to similar services delivered under Home and Community-Based Services waiver programs.

Passed into law in December of 2016, the Cures Act requires all state Medicaid agencies to implement an electronic visit verification requirement for providers of Personal Care Services (PCS) and Home Health Services (HHS) to avoid possible reductions in federal Medicaid funding.

In accordance with the Utah department of Health Medicaid, EVV is defined as a system that utilizes multiple point-of-care verification technologies, including telephonic, mobile, and web-based verification. The system must electronically verify the occurrence of home or community-based service visits, recording the precise time that service provision starts and finishes to ensure accurate claims disbursement.

Electronic visit verification (EVV) is required by the Utah department of Health Medicaid for all Personal Care Services and Home Health Services under Medicaid effective July 1, 2019*. While originally the July 1st compliance date was set, recoupment and penalties for failure to comply with the accurate transmission of EVV data will not go into effect until January 1, 20201 for Personal Care services, and January 1, 2023 for Home Health service providers. All providers are required to select a suitable EVV service vendor and have records available for review upon request. All systems must be compliant with the Cures Act requirements.

Alora makes work life easier for your caregivers. The benefit of having EVV fully integrated within Alora’s agency management system is that Alora already houses all relevant data about the visit when your caregiver arrives at the patient’s home. The caregiver simply presses “Start Visit,” and can then focus on patient care.

Compared to a standalone EVV system that lacks data of the visit, there is no information on the client’s Medicaid ID, the agency, the caregiver, or the service being provided. Caregivers are forced to manually enter this upon arrival. This entry takes time and often leads to mistakes. Mistakes can be costly and can frustrate your caregivers, delay or upend the level of patient care you want to provide, and jeopardize timely reimbursements.

Did your caregiver perform all the tasks required in the patient’s plan of care? Alora software generates patient-specific visit notes that are derived from the Plan of care.  Your homecare aides and nurses can perform their documentation directly from the Alora EVV interface – making their workflow simple and straight-forward. Caregivers can easily check their schedules, look up client information, and complete the plan of care based visit note, while communicating with the agency through secure mail with text notification. Additionally, field staff caregivers always have easy access to Alora software from their smartphones or any other mobile devices of choice.

How can we help you?

No Internet connectivity at patient’s home? No problem. Alora provides a telephony solution as a back up to our GPS based EVV software for Utah Home health. When your caregiver is at patient’s home that lacks Internet connectivity, the telephony solution can be used as an alternative means to capture EVV.
